5th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE YOuth in COnservation of
CUltural Heritage
YOCOCU 2016
21st-23rd September 2016
Madrid, Spain

Any contribution related to the characterization, diagnosis, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage will be welcomed. However, in this 5th edition of YOCOCU, we would like to encourage professionals and researchers to show their work on some topics not always considered in depth such as contemporary art and industrial heritage, as well as education and heritage.

The following topics want to be a suggestion of the variety of cultural heritage fields this meeting would like to deal with.
MATERIALS

From any artifact to an archaeological ensemble, from a metal coin to a sculpture, from a manuscript to a building, any kind of material will be welcomed: stone, mortar, cement, concrete, earthen materials, ceramics, metal, mosaic, paper, photograph, video, film, textile, painting, glass, plastics, pigments, organic materials, timber, mummies, etc.
HERITAGE

Besides archaeological and architectural heritage, contemporary art and industrial heritage contributions are ones of the highlighted topics of the conference, considering, of course, some other which are having a significant role such as underwater heritage. Museum collections, as well as cultural landscape and intangible cultural heritage contributions will be accepted.
TECHNIQUES

Besides the more traditional techniques for characterization, diagnosis, conservation and restoration – cleaning, consolidation, hydrophobization, replacement – of cultural heritage, the conference is open to some newer and more innovative ones such as:

•Intelligent multi-sensor systems for remote control
•Non destructive and portable techniques
•Robotics
•Digital documentation and recreation
•Nanotechnology
•Illumination
•Instrumentation and Data Systems: diagnosis, evaluation and monitoring techniques

OTHER TOPICS

•Socio-cultural benefits/impact of cultural heritage
•Heritage dissemination
•Heritage at risk: armed conflicts, terrorist attacks, fires, natural disasters, climate change
•Cultural heritage, tourism and economics
•Cultural heritage itineraries
•Cultural heritage & Education
