MIRAS Marked 3-year Anniversary

 MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage held an event on occasion of 3-year anniversary of its establishment attended by MIRAS members, community and media representatives. The event started with the presentation of report of the organization’s 2012-year activity and 2013-year work plan. Deputy Chairman of MIRAS, a journalist and screenwriter Arzu Soltan opened the event and thanked to the all attendees. Member of MIRAS Board, Doctor of History Gafar Jabiyev informed about the organization’s purpose and will, and noted his consent of 3-year hard labour. After video of 2012 report of MIRAS is presented, the chairman of the Organization, Fariz Khalilli made a wide report.
Fariz Khalilli talked about cultural heritage seminars at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku Slavic University, Shirvanshahs’ Museum Complex, Western University; international and republican conferences arranged in Amasia (Turkey), Milan (Italy) and Agsu (Azerbaijan); exhibitions “Cultural heritage from past to present” in Baku Creative Center, “Dede Qorqud Land-Bayburt” at Shirvanshah Museum Complex, “brick architecture” at medieval Agsu town archaeological tourim complex, “Agsu wonder” at Mugla, Ushk and Bayburt cities of Turkey, seminars “Azerbaijani culture and cultural heritage” for Causasian Studies faculty students of Tbilisi State University; North Cyprus and Azerbaijani Youth Forum at Gazimagusa City of North Cyprus Turkish Republic; young Miras members’ active participation at 3th YOCOCU-Youth in Conservation of Cultural Heritage at Antwerpen city of Belgium; historical seminars and archaeological exhibition at schools No 71, 167, 129 and 214 and leadership school of Azerbaijani Child and Youth Peace Network created in initiative of Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Republic; tours to Javanshir and Bugurt castles, medieval Agsu town, Lahij and Basgal settlement, State Flag Museum; 3rd issue of MIRAS journal and book “Broken life in 39th step”, as well as abstract book of international conferences, courses of ebru art, painting, carpet making, Arabian, Persian, English, Russian languages, archaeological excavations and conservation work conducted in medieval Agsu City, including 37 golden coins. He expressed gratitude to all people, bodies and associations supported this work of MIRAS. Stating MIRAS has qualified and young member network, Fariz Khalilli noted their being more pretentious and their taking this as a ground upon elaborating 2013 plan. He said they support the government’s cultural heritage policy and their intention to widen collaboration with local and international bodies to gain better results.

Rector of Azerbaijan Tourism Institute, Professor Jafar Jafarov stressed MIRAS Social Organization brought novelties to the field of tourism, implemented projects to involve the community to the development of archaeological tourism.
Associate member of NASA, Vali Aliyev appreciated the Organizations’ activity and underscored cultural heritage activity started by his student, Fariz Khalilli in Azerbaijan overpassed the borders, the special role of the Organization in the initiatives to implement archaeological excavations at Dede Qorqud’s land in Bayburt City of Turkey.
Professor Hidayat Jafarov expressed his attitude towards interest on old history of Khojaly, especially kurgans’ exploration and noted his support regarding the work to be done on the kurgans like in “Khojaly film”.
Staff of Ombudsman Office, Faig Agayev sent greetings of Elmira Suleymanova, Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Azerbaijan and presented MIRAS Organization messages of thanks for services of MIRAS in the field of study of Azerbaijani history and cultural heritage, particularly promotion among children and youth and fruitful cooperation with the Ombusman.
Professor Minekhanim Taklali Nuriyeva stated adherence of Qafqaz University Caucasus Reesearch Center and MIRAS Social Organization and holding joint seminars and symposiums. She said UNESCO declared 2013 year as Seyid Yahya Shirvani in regard with 550 year of his death and these institutions’ elaboration of annual plan in this field.
The speakers congratulated MIRAS sharing their impressions on MIRAS and its activity and giving proposals and recommendations.
The members of MIRAS Music Group performed a wide concert under guidance of tar performer Mehman Mikayilov.
