MIRAS Awarded Honourary Degree

A conference on the activity of Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic for 2014 year was held on 22 January, 2015. Ali Hasanov, the head of Department on Social Political Issues of the Executive Apparatus, administration of Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and various NGO representatives took part there.
The chairman of the Council, MP Azay Guliyev said 2014 year was successful for the NGOs and projects were actual and effective. The council announced call for two grants. The Council received 768 project proposals 403 out of which were realized. Video was shown concerning Council’s acvtivity of 2014. For last finance year NGOs preferred educational events more. Twenty three NGOs which projects were funded by the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan were granted honourary decrees. Chairman of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage, PhD Fariz Khalilli was rewarded Honourary Degree for the successul implementation of project ‘“Clean Village-Protection of Ecological and Ethnographic Identity with Participation of Local Communes and Sustainable Development”” in March-August, 2014.
Main purpose of “Clean Village-Protection of Ecological and Ethnographic Identity with Participation of Local Communes and Sustainable Development” project is to gain creation of urban environment attractive in environmentally friendly and etnographical terms in examples of Chiyni, Ulguj and Gagali villages of Agsu region, three different villages of various social, economic and cultural level and their recognition as exemplary village. The employees of the Organization arranged monitoring and survey with settlers of Chiyni, Gagali and Ulguj villages of Agsu region on 19-20 April 2014. Generally 67 people participated in the surveys. They had different ages and specialties. The experts analyzed the monitoring results and prepared report which was later published. That was distributed in different villages and corresponding bodies. A plan was worked up for educational trainings in the villages. On the basis of the plan the employees of the Organization arranged educational trainings with representatives of local communes of Chiyni, Gagali and Ulguj villages of Agsu region on 17-19 July, 2014. Negative influence of garbage on environment, human health and general development of the area and the ways of their prevention were dealt and relevant recommendations given to the participants in this line in the trainings attended by experts on ecology, cultural heritage, tourism and town-planning. 1st mini football tournament "Clean Village" was held in August in Chiyni Village stadium. Football teams of MIRAS Social Organization, Agsu-Ulguj town municipality, Chiyni village municipality, Gagali village municipality joined this interesting football. “Clean village 1st mini football tournament connected with clean village project aims at developing commune solidarity in poor condition among village youth and educate youth on topic clean village. “Pearls of nature” photo contest was arranged in Baku city and regional schools, and schoolchildren’s photos are shown and they are awarded. Presentations were made during the conferences held in Azerbaijan, Spain, Macedonia and welcomed with the interest, exchange of experiences were made. Due to the results of the project, the work is being done in Ulguj Village on the restoration of well; gas is laid up in Gagali Village, announcement of “Terekeme charshanba” folklore festival to develop rural village, designing work of Archaeology and Ethnography Centre in Chiyni Village is under way. MIRAS Organization will continue its activity in pilot villages for the durableness of the project in the future.
