“Cultural Heritage and Archaeological Tourism” Scientific-Practical Conference held in Pedagogical University

On 2nd March 2015 scientific-practical conference on cultural heritage and archaeological tourism was co-organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage and with support of Student and Youth Organization of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University in the University. The event was opened by Professor Vilayat Aliyev, vice-rector of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. He introduced the speakers and dealt with joint activity of the University with MIRAS Organization. Professor Vilayat Aliyev spoke about latest accomplishments of archaeology science in Azerbaijan and the tourism development in the country. Afterwards, employee of the Ministry Maleyka Huseynova gave broad information about development perspectives of Azerbaijani tourism and potential. She talked also about the done work for last years and intended to be done in this domain in the future in Azerbaijan. She shared information on international archaeological tourism project “Cities of Common Cultural Heritage” supported by the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) in 2014 adding that the project covers countries like Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and will be ongoing in 2015 as well. The archaeological camps realized within this project will help the youth’s recognition of our cultural heritage monuments and grow interest in archaeology and ancient history of ours.
The chairman of MIRAS Organization, PhD Fariz Khalilli spoke about the importance of travel and researches in human life in his speech. Stating his travel in 100 cities in 20 countries of the world, the speaker noted cultural heritage care will play ultimate role in both cultural and economic development of the community. Though being created recently, archaeological tourism is really formed tourism and there is grown interest in this and establishment of new archaeo-park and archaeological tourism complexes. Fariz Khalilli giving wide information on medieval Agsu town archaeological tourism complex invited the University’s students to the archaeological camp by Agsu archaeological expedition in Mehravan Castle of Caucasus Albania. The chairman of Student and Youth Organization of the University, Sahil Galandarov thanked to the speakers and stated his hope for the youth’s visiting regularly cultural heritage monuments and archaeological camps.
