On 14 May IV. International Turkic Art, History And Folklore Congress / Art Activities Launched

The event was co-arranged with Turkish Handicraft Research and Application Center of Selçuk University of Turkey; MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage, Azerbaijan; International YOCOCU Association, Italy and Konya Municipality in Konya.
In the opening of the event, the secretary general of the symposium organization committee, Ahmet Aytac dealt with the event’s purpose and significance. The symposium aimed at bringing scientists and researchers studying Turkic art, history and folklore together and familiarization of the scientific community with the results of the researchers. 150 participants from 10 countries took part there.
The co-chair of the symposium, chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, Fariz Khalilli stated the importance of such events in strengthening of the relations among corresponding bodies and scientists of Azerbaijan and Turkey and in studying history and culture of Turkic-spoken countries.
Deputy head of YOCOCU, Marta Caroselli; chairman of Turkish Handicraft Research and Application Center of Selçuk University, Osman Kunduracı; professor of Azerbaijan Technical University; Shikar Gasimov; art critic from Turkey Örcün Barışta; vice-rector of Seljuk University, Mustafa Şahin and secretary of Konya municipality, Abdulmalik Ötegen noted importance of maintenance of cultural relations of Turkic-spoken peoples and holding meetings for the development of the aforementioned relations. The members of MIRAS music group performed Azerbaijani mughams and folk music.
The symposium continued with sessions “Turkic art”, “Middle Asia history”, "Turkic literature", "Turkic music", "Turkic folklore", "Turkic culture", "Turkic art history", "Turkic archaeology", "Restoration and Conservation”, "Tourism", "Education".
At the sessions presentations of scholars and experts from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Italy, Ukraine, Iran, Georgia, Macedonia and others were made and discussions held.
Within the event the photo exhibition “Tarakama Folklore in Azerbaijan” and “Turkic art” expo were held. The symposium will last on 16 May.
