A group of CUBETO Forum (International Youth Forum of Cultural Heritage and Tourism) participants visited cultural monuments and tourism facilities located in Gobustan, Shamakhi and Agsu regions on 2nd February 2016 within the forum. The guests firstly had been in Diri-Baba Tomb in Gobustan. Later frequented Shamakhi History and Local Lore Museum and Juma Mosque situated in Shamakhi.
The guests were informed about the monuments mentioned. So, Diri Baba Monument supposed to belong to one of known representative of Khalvatiyya sect of Sufism made deep impression on the guests. The participants got to know that Juma Mosque in Shamakhi was built in 8th century and restored despite many earth-quakes in different periods and its re-functioning since 2013.
It is notable that, the Mosque being one of the best expressions of multi-cultural values is very important from archaeological aspect, too. The participants familiarized with the Shamakhi History and Local Lore Museum exposition and the catalogue were presented to them.
The guests later came to Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex. This complex, which is one of main tourism facilities of Azerbaijan for the development of archaeological tourism, is visited by more than 5000 tourists every year.
Pınar Atalay (from Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate for Cultural Heritage and Museums), Casper Van Vlokhoven (from Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) and Gints Aksiks (SIA ``Travel agency SPARE`` and SIA “Spare Sport”) shared their thoughts and recommendations on the complex. In the end the participants visited “Az-Qranata” MMC, one of the largest industrial enterprises of Agsu.
