Within the framework of the PICASP project, a seminar on "Archaeological heritage management" was organized on March 27, 2023, at the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management, according to the Action Plan of MIRAS Public Union for the current year. Doctor of Philosophy in History Fariz Khalilli (administrative head of the project of MIRAS Public Union as the national partner) was the speaker at the seminar held with the participation of more than 30 students of the Faculty of Social Management studying museology, archival work and preservation of monuments and their teachers (Professor Minakhanim Asadova, Associate Professor Vusala Mammadzade, Tofig Imanov) and gave extensive information on the basics of archaeological heritage discovery and protection, works done in this field, state regulatory mechanisms, national and international experience and etc. After the speech, the students' knowledge and skills related to the topic, ways of solving problems related to the development of this field, and opportunities to eliminate the gaps faced by them in the process of personnel training in the future were discussed in the interactive questioning process. Later, Maleyka Huseynova, the coordinator of MIRAS Public Union as the national partner of the project, informed about the goals of the project, the work to be done and the nature of other planned events.
It should be noted that starting from 2021, “MIRAS” Cultural and Heritage Study Support Public Union is a partner of the PICASP ("Pilot courses for industrial enterprises to implement university-enterprise cooperation in the development of the Caspian region") project funded under the ERASMUS+ Program of the European Commission. The main goal of the project is to increase the competencies of teachers in the field of small and medium business based on pilot courses that combine theory and practice with the application of a new learning tool, free open online courses (MOOCs), to introduce new methodologies and teaching tools, to raise the level of personnel training in the field of cultural heritage protection, and most importantly, strengthening the potential in the field of higher education. For this purpose, during the year, MIRAS Public Union plans to organize seminars, familiarization tours, trainings and expeditions with the participation of teachers and students of a some higher education institutions.
