Within the framework of the PICASP project, a seminar on "Archaeological heritage examination" was organized on April 03, 2023, at the Azerbaijan University of Tourism and Management, according to the Action Plan of MIRAS Public Union for the current year.
Fariz Khalilli, the Doctor of Philosophy in History, administrative head of the project by the MIRAS Public Union as the national partner was the speaker at the seminar. More than 30 students from bachelor and master level and their teachers (Professor Minakhanim Asadova, Tofig Imanov) attended the seminar. Dr. Khalilli provided a comprehensive information on the discovering ways of archaeological heritage, the necessary procedures to be provided after the discovery, archaeological excavation procedures, determination of archaeological heritage date and authenticity, the existing legislation and Azerbaijani experience in this sphere, as well as his own practice as an archaeologist and cultural heritage specialist. Also the questioning was provided for determination of the students’ awareness level in this sphere before and after the seminar.
İt is to be mentioned that the purpose of the MİRAS-PİCASP seminars is to create basis for university-enterprise cooperation in the cultural heritage, archeaology, museums and tourism spheres in the Casipan region. The program of the seminars was prepared according to the PICASP project.
We should note that starting from 2021, “MIRAS” Public Union in Support of Studying Cultural Heritage is a partner of the PICASP project ("Pilot courses for industrial enterprises to implement university-enterprise cooperation in the development of the Caspian region") funded under the ERASMUS+ Program of the European Commission. The main goal of the project is to increase the competencies of the teachers in the small and medium business field, especially based on pilot courses combining theory and practice with the implementation of MOOCs (free open online courses). As well as to introduce new methodologies and teaching tools, to raise the level of personnel training in the field of cultural heritage protection, and most importantly, strengthening the potential in the field of higher education. For this purpose, during the current year, MIRAS Public Union will organize seminars, familiarization tours, trainings and expeditions with the participation of teachers and students of interested higher education institutions.
