MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage was rewarded National Heritage Award for services in promotion of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. 18th April is marked in the world as International Day on Monuments and Sites with proposal of International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), on the basis of recommendations of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). With the purpose to mark this day more widely in Azerbaijan, holiday was held in “Ateshgah temple” State Historical Architectural Reserve on 18 April 2013 by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. With the purpose to promote rich cultural heritage of our country, as well as architecture and restoration, support and stimulation of activity in protection of historical and cultural monuments, ceremony of 2013 winners’ reward of “National Heritage Award” of Ministry of Culture and Tourism was held there. MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage, one of six nominations was rewarded for attendance in cultural heritage promotion. The award was granted to chairman of MIRAS, Fariz Khalilli by minister of culture and tourism, Abulfas Garayev. The award consists of metal statue on black marble platform and a diploma. Later short presentation on the activities of MIRAS Organization was shared. It was said that within short term of creation of MIRAS, since early 2010, a lot of successful projects were realized in the field of fulfillment of scientific-research work on study of rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan; repair and restoration of historical monuments and other objects; popularization of our national and moral values. The organization arranges regularly seminars in high and secondary schools of our republic, libraries and museums, holds cultural heritage camps and other tours. The organization informs the community on these activities via MIRAS scientific-mass journal, web-sites ‘miras.az’ and ‘archaeotourism.az’. The city remnants were conserved in 15000 sq/ms by MIRAS which conducted archaeological explorations in medieval Agsu town, an exhibition complex was opened and archaeological tourism complex had more than 4000 local and 300 foreign tourists in 2012. The organization organized events on themes “cultural heritage of Azerbaijan”, “brick architecture”, “cultural heritage from past to future” in Baku, Agsu, Ismayilly citis of our republic; in Amasia, Mughla, Ushak, Trabzon, Bayburt an Ordu cities of Turkey; Milan, Italy; Tbilisi City of Georgia and Gazimagusa City of North Cyprus Republic of Turkey for last three years in the terms of promotion of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Films “Khojaly Time”, “Tarakama Charshanba” and “Azerbaijan Land of Monuments” produced by MIRAS are shown in TV and Internet portals and played urgent role in enlightement of population of our historical and cultural heritage.
