On 20th October, 2014 opening ceremony of II International Hamza Nigari Symposium co-organized by Amasia University, Azerbaijani Turks Culture, Art and Support Association of Amasia, Caucasus Research Institute of Qafqaz University, Eurasia International Research Institute Public Union and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage was held.
The symposium was opened by Fariz Khalilli, chairman of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage. He welcomed all participants who study and interested in Hamza Nigari heritage, talked about the purposes of the symposium and the history. The representative of Hamza Nigari kin in Azerbaijan, Sirajaddin Hamidov expressed his gratitude to the symposium participants for the value towards Sufi poet. The chairman of Azerbaijani Turks Culture, Art and Support Association of Amasia, Muttalip Ulutanrıverdi in his speech mentioned novelties in the line of Hamza Nigari heritage’s research and called significant event the restoration of Shirvanly Mosque in Amasia and Nigari Tomb by Azerbaijani philanthropists. They declared holding of III Hamza Nigari Symposium in 2016 in Istanbul. Former MP of Republic of Turkey, lawyer Orhan Kayihan delivered greetings from Amasia Azerbaijanis to Azerbaijan, stressed such symposiums refresh memories and necessity of their continuance. People poet of Azerbaijan, Nariman Hasanzade stated he wrote a poem dedicated to Hamza Nigari Tomb and recited some parts. Later director of Caucasus Research Institute of Qafqaz University, Mehmet Rihtim; Hayati Taştan, governor of Sulova of Amasia where Azerbaijanis live densely and senior lecturer of Amasia University Metin Hakverdioglu, secretary of Amasia municipality Hüseyin Menç, honourary chairman of Dersaadet Sufism Federation, Fatih Nurullah welcomed the participants.
The artistic part of the symposium continued by MIRAS Music group accompany of Hamza Azizbayli, Gullu Muradova, Zeynal Ahmadov and Ruslan Adigozalov and performed mugham of Hamza Nigari’s ghazals. Schoolboy Rumi Hamidov sounded the poet’s "Alhamdulillah" poem.
In separate sections of the symposium the reports on “True and false realities concerning Mir Hamza Nigari”, “Persian Divan of Mir Hamza Seyid Nigari”, “the history of study of life and creation of Seyyid Hamza Nigari”, “Seyyid Mir Hamza Nigârî and Tomb”, “Letters of Mir Hamza Nigari”, “Son of Mir Hamza Nigari, Siraji”, “Rhythm and intonation sources of Nigari poetry” were made during the symposium. More than 80 scholars and researchers from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Russia participated at the symposium. Well-known Mammad Rahimov’s photo exhibition “on Sufi’s memory” was opened with the support of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage within the symposium.
