Final event and reward ceremony of the 1st cultural heritage Olympiad amongst the youth co-organized by MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage and Central Scientific Library of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASA) took place in the latter’s building.
Director of NASA Central Scientific Library, Professor Aybaniz Aliyeva-Kangarly opened the event with introductory remark, congratulated the youth on occasion of Olympiad ending. Chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, PhD Fariz Khalilli gave short information on the Olympiad and the contest stages’ dedication to the historical days (18 April-International day of Monuments and Historical Sites; 18 May-International Day of Museums). Today we mark 95-year anniversary of Azerbaijan People’s Republic that is a part of our historical heritage.
Associate member of NASA, Vali Aliyev; director of Institute of Literature named after Nizami, professor Teymur Karimly; director of NASA Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi, Professor Fakhraddin Veysally shared information on state policy and the done work in the line of study, protection and promotion of our cultural heritage. The speakers underscored cultural heritage of Azerbaijan is on the world focus not only inside the country and abroad.
Afterwards, the first 4 winners were granted diplomas and certificates were given to the other participants. Fariz Khalilli noted that more than 50 participants from different universities and scientific institutions of Azerbaijan joined the Olympiad which contributed to increase of youth’s activeness of cultural heritage promotion. 15 persons passed to the third stage. The 4 place-winners are as follows:

1. Aida Bayramova – Azerbaijan Tourism Institute;
2. Aida Ismayilova – National Museum of History of Azerbaijan of NASA
3. Mehbara Abbasova – Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts;
4. Shafa Movsumov – NASA Institute of History named after A.A.Bakikhanov

In the end Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kangarli stated she hopes for continuance of the Olympiad and more active participation of youth at the 2nd cultural heritage Olympiad next year.
