International scientific-practical conference entitled “Khojaly-bitter reality” was held at Eastern Mediterranean University of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
March was organized by Azerbaijan Association of Eastern Mediterranean University and Student Council of the same University before the conference. Along with Azerbaijani students educated at the University, foreign students also joined the march. Rector of the Eastern Mediterranean University, Professor Abdullah Oztoprak; chairman of Student Council of the University, Ekrem Soyshen and the head of University’s Azerbaijan Association, Elchin Suleymanov laid wreath on the Ataturk Monument and made a speech.
Later on the international scientific and practical conference entitled “Khojaly-bitter reality” realized within the scope of project “My Land in the World” by MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage started. The project manager, representative of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Jafar Mansimi gave comprehensive information on project “My Land in the World”. He noted that the project aims at encouraging youth by past and present history and culture of our country; assisting in increase of their world outlooks. Besides, saying youth interest in cultural institutions, theatres and libraries to increase within the project Jafar Mansimi stated project “My Land in the World” will take place as a result of cooperation with numerous world universities.
Elchin Suleymanov, head of Azerbaijan Association of Eastern Mediterranean University said Armenian armed forces occupied Khojaly town with the help of armoire and military staff of 36th regiment in Khankendi city since USSR at night from 25 February till 26 February, 1992.
Member of Parliament of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, MP Ejder Aslan Baba, who also participated at the conference, said youth are responsible for substantial deliver of Khojaly genocide to the notice of the word community.
A number of interesting speeches were made at the conference.
In the end “Khojaly Time” film produced by MIRAS Social Organization was shown and video-record prepared by students was presented to the conference participants.
