MIRAS Had Seminar in Ganja City

MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage (www.miras.az) arranged a seminar for all members of society in Ganja city on 13 June, 2013.
The seminar took place within the project "Protection and promotion of historical and cultural monuments in Azerbaijan: monitoring of current situation and obligations" supported by the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Teachers, historians, cultural and tourism employees, NGO representatives and youth participated at the event occurred at the Library named after Nizami Ganjavi with the support of Ganja City Executive Power. First Bakhtiyar Muradov, head inspector of Culture and Tourism Department of Ganja City welcomed the participants and appreciated highly the project of MIRAS. B. Muradov talked about the history of Ganja, the second large city of Azerbaijan called that the land of monument.
The project expert, the organization chairman and PhD Fariz Khalilli delivered a speech on the role of MIRAS Organization in protection of cultural heritage’ and familiarized the participants with the work at medieval Agsu town tourism complex as the sample of care on cultural heritage.
Project coordinator, deputy chairman of MIRAS Organization, Arzu Soltan spoke on “public attitude on cultural heritage: monitoring results” and talked about the work done within the project. Particularly, she shared information among the participants on the results of the monitoring conducted in medieval Ganja city. Especially, it was underscored that medieval Ganja City remained aside from the community’s attention.
The seminar participants, especially youth stated they will be more active after this for recognition of that monument. They said they agree with the view on development of the region in fact and increase of the life level of people resided there caused by inclusion of the monument into tourism routes.
The seminar participants visited Ganja City History and Local Lore Museum, Ganja Castle, Jomard Gassab Tomb, as well as Nizami Ganjavi Mausoleum with the guidance of head inspector of Culture and Tourism Department, Bakhtiyar Muradov.
