On 16th February, 2015 Seminar “Why Khojaly?” was co-arranged in Samsun City of Turkey by Turkish Society, Azerbaijani Turks Culture, Art and Solidarity Association of Amasia, Balkans-Rumeli Turks Confederation and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage.
The seminar was opened by Reha Oğuz Ertuğrul on behalf of Turkish Society and said Khojaly genocide is violence committed against the Turkic world as a whole. The Khojaly victims were commemorated with one-minute silence. Later chairman of MIRAS Organization, Dr. Fariz Khalilli made a speech on the reasons, results and outcomes of Khojaly genocide. It was stressed that the youth of the Turkic world are committed with travelling through the lands of the motherland, following traces of Turks study, protect and promote of our cultural heritage and urgency of update of the memories.

“Khojaly time” documentary produced by National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, MIRAS Social Organization and Aktiv Media Company was shown at the seminar. Deputy chairman of Balkans-Rumeli Turks Confederation, İzzet Altuntaş underscored that Turks of Middle East, Caucasus, Anatolia and Balkans must follow the happenings and unite around idea of justice for Khojaly genocide. Members of Turkish Society board, Doc. Dr. Çağatay Tufan thanked to the speaker for special focus on historical moments of Khojaly genocide, cultural heritage of Khojaly and neighbourhood areas.

At the seminar active representatives of Turkish Society, teachers and students of On Doqquz Mayis University, as well as members of Azerbaijani Turks Culture, Art and Solidarity Association took part there.
