On 3rd May, 2015 tree-planting campaign “Mulberry trees Our Heritage” dedicated to 92nd anniversary of Nationwide Leader Haydar Aliyev’s birthday was held in defense stripe of Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex near Ulguj Village of Agsu Region.
More than 200 mulberry tree seedings collected from courtyards of Agsu settlers were cultivated by volunteers of MIRAS and Khazar University students.
The campaign aims at protection of ecological and ethnographical identity and sustainable development as continuance of “clean village” project carried out by MIRAS in 2014. It is notable that, the archaeological tourism complex involved is included to Ulguj Village. MIRAS achieved to restore the activity of artesian well which was unfit for long term jointly with corresponding organizations for the water supply of the village. The campaign will enliven the tradition of mulberry trees, its importance in producing silk and in food.
The campaign was supported by Agsu Region Executive Power, Agsu Region Municipality and Agsu Archaeological Expedition.
