On 15th October, 2015 at 11.am MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage held a presentation of final report on inclusive tour and project outcomes offered within the project, Book of Results, Proposals and Recommendations of the project “Tourism perspectives of archaeological monuments and support to disabled rehabilitation” at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art. Project was realized in April-September 2015 by MIRAS Organization with financial support of Council on State Support to NGOs under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Chief division of Ministry of Labour and Social Protection Of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Saday Abdullayev; Ilgar Gurbanov, chief of state medical-expertise and rehabilitation service under the aforementioned ministry and Isa Mammadov, employee of Ministry of Culture and Tourism on work with NGOs; Gulshan Aliyeva, vice-rector of University of Culture and Art; chief of museum studies department of the university of the university, associate professor Yegana Eyvazova; Narmin Garalova, chief of the university’s media and information department; head of Shirvan Folklore Group, Ikhtiyar Gojayev; employees of online media channel ARABAÇI TV, Ilham Maharramov and Amid Hasanguliyev, MIRAS members and the project volunteers participated at the event.
The rector of the University, Professor Farah Aliyeva opened the event and welcomed the participants. She expressed her consent of arrangement of this event in this University and thanked to all people worked on this project. Chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, PhD Fariz Khalilli gave wide information on the mentioned project and inclusive tourism, which is new type of tourism in Azerbaijan. He stated that upon realization of this project it was displayed that non-awareness and shortcomings exist in this field and the community has to be educated on this point. Within the project on 22-27 July, 2015 in Shamakhi, Agsu and Ismayilli regions almost 100 facilities were surveyed and trainings held and 13 people were inquired. During the trainings the discussions were held around the topics on the survey results and the raised issues brought to the notice of corresponding organizations. The inclusive tourism design project of Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex reflected inlcusive tourism infrastructure plan and relevant recommedations in Azerbaijan and elaborated due to world standards was worked out. He said that inclusive tours launched in Agsu, Shamakhi and Ismayilli regions and distributed the fliers among the participants. Fariz Khalilli also noted that the first inclusive tour was organized for members of Ismayilli region Family and Children Centre, Shamakhi Neurological Hospital and GULSAM Disabled Rehabilitation Support Centre Public Association in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex.
Employee of Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Saday Abdullayev appreciated highly this project in his speech and dealt with the work with disabled people by the ministry. He added that the regional rehabilitation centres exist in the regions and foundational repair is done in the buidings of most centeral places. Finally, he called on each person to support such projects. The project expert Gulshen Huseynova spoke about current situation for disabled people in the regions and shared her proposals and recommendations in this direction. Director of ARABAÇI TV Ilham Maharramov stated urgent role of inclusive tourism in disabled people’s integration to the society and thanked to the MIRAS Organization for this inititative. At the same time he brought to the notice of the participants the quandaries of the disabled people and the problems with their reaching certain places. The head of the University’s museum studies department, associate professor Yegana Eyvazova said that she has had academic relations with the Organization before. Moreover, she stated that there will be master classes by Italian and Turkish restorers for students of University of Culture nd Art in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex and the students looking forward this course. She also added that a new class “the work with disabled people in the museums” will be held in the university.
All project members and volunteers were granted certificates. Also all participants of poem contest within archaeology festival held for the first time in Azerbaijan in July were given certifiacates.
In the end the rector of the University , professor Farah Aliyeva and chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, PhD Fariz Khalilli signed Academic Collaboration Protocol. Protocol includes: arrangement of conferences, seminars, symposiums, festivals, exhibitions, films and other activities on study, protection and promotion of cultural heirtage for the purpose of realization of researches and educational work by joint actions and collaboration; organization of cultural events, meetings, tours for scholars, researchers and managers for the development of mutual collaboration; exchange of scientific editions, other materials with the purpose of education and studies; support to students’ getting practice mutually in Azerbaijan and other countries in order to develop their education; courses, seminar and cultural events for students; creation of mobile laboratories in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex for practice of students and masters and other issues.
