MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage started implementing the project "Research and Promotion of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of Shusha"

The winner of the special competition dedicated to the "Year of Shusha" of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage started implementing the project "Research and Promotion of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of Shusha" from August 1.

The main goal of the project is to collect scattered reports of archaeological, ethnographic, epigraphic, numismatic and paleographic research conducted in Shusha, to prepare and publish them in two languages, to cooperate with the Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology based in Britain for the city of Shusha, at the initial stage in the publications of that society to publish an article or a book, to hold the "Fourth International Shusha Symposium on Monuments and Historical Places" in November 2022 in Shusha. During the planning stage of the project, experts were identified, volunteers were involved, and individual working meetings were held with their participation. The National Museum of Azerbaijan History, the National Carpet Museum of Azerbaijan, its Shusha branch, the National Archives Department, the Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, the Institute of History named after Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov and the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli were requested to conduct research in their funds and archives. Foreign visits - correspondence with Georgia, Russia, Germany, France, Italy and Hungary. In the near future, it is planned to carry out epigraphic research in the city of Shusha, and experts have been identified. In order to acquaint the local and foreign public with the work done, the "Historical-cultural heritage of Shusha" page was created on Facebook.

On August 11, experts and volunteers of the project held another meeting in the assembly hall of the National Azerbaijan History Museum. First, the exhibition where items belonging to the Karabakh Khanate were displayed was viewed. A large part of the material and culture samples displayed in the exhibition will take its place in the study. At the meeting, experts - archaeologist Prof.Dr. Gafar Jabiyev, epigraphic scientist Docent Dr. Habiba Aliyeva, ethnographer Docent Dr. Gulzadeh Abdulova, associate professor of numismatics. Aygun Mammadova, textualist Shahla Khalilli's plans for the project were discussed, research methods and stages were approved. Information was given about the work to be done by the volunteers joining the project.
