Conference "Azerbaijan and Turkey: Common Values and History" Lasted in Mersin University

On 25th, December 2014 conference "Azerbaijan and Turkey: Common Values and History" and exhibition “Common Values in Turkic World” of photograph Mammad Rahimov were held in Mersin University in Mersin city of Turkey by Turkic Community of the University, MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage, Turkic World Union Platform, Bolkar Villages Social Aid and Culture Platform and Mersin-Azerbaijani Culture Association. First the chairman of Turkic Community Muhammad Khalid Tahiri opened the conference and said that the Union which has many member students arranges such kind of events. Address of Azerbaijani scientists to the members of this Union and notifying the youth make them happy. He said that basic purpose of the conference and exhibition is to promote more widely common values and our history. Advisor of World Cultures Union, Serdarhan Musa Tashkaya thanked to the youth arranged the event and scientists taken part at the conference. Jafer Ishig, chairman of Bolkar Villages Social Aid and Culture Platform and Mersin-Azerbaijani Culture Association spoke about the development of the relations in a new stage among Turkic peoples and proposed to make villages sister status along with cities. The chairperson of Mersin-Azerbaijan Culture Association, Samira Najafova Sari noted urgency of learning of Turkic states of one another’s culture, literature and music.
Professor of Technical University of Azerbaijan, director of history chair, Shikar Gasimov spoke and expressed gratitude for created circumstance to the University board for students of different countries to address to the community. He said that, the youth who study our history deeply can define their role in the movement of political, economic and cultural processes in today’s global sense. Common values make us unite and encourage studying these values. Shikar Gasimov reminding 1915 year events noted Turks were exposed to Armenian invaders terrorists before. He brought to notice the massacres Andronik committed in Anatolia and Caucasus with concrete facts and dealt with Sultan beg and Khosrov beg Sulanov sisters’ resistance against his frantic troops in Ganli Dere part of Lachin region and preventing Armenian state to be established in Garabagh.
Chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, PhD Fariz Khalilli gave wide information on archaeological explorations in Medieval Agsu Town. He added that they want to strengthen the development of archaeological tourism and start work like local and international projects. He stressed that international archaeological tourism project "Cities of Common Cultural Heritage” will help cultural heritage of Turkic states to cover other areas in near future and will be deeply studied and promoted. Van’s being the centre of Garagoyunlus and works of Hulakyds in Arzurum and Amasia and the role of Anatolian Turks in formation of Safavyds were widely covered. He called on youth to travel for knowing better Turkic-Islamic cultural monuments. The youth addressing different questions to the reporters, took interest in solution ways of Garabagh problems, educational issues of Turkic people history in high educational institutions in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan People Republic and its founders, political and cultural relations between two countries in modern time.
In the end ‘MIRAS Friend’ plaquette was granted to rector of the University, Professor Ahmet Chamsari and advisor of World Culture Union, Serdarhan Musa Tashkaya. After the conference the Azerbaijani delegation met secretary general of Mersin Municipality, Haluk Tunçsu. Stating that he loves Azerbaijan very much and admires its culture Haluk Tunçsu said that both country citizens must know each other. During the meeting there was made exchange of views on announcement of Tarsus Bolkar villages with one of Azerbaijan’s large villages as sister villages.
