Public debates on Development of Inclusive Tourism in Azerbaijan UnderWay

On 22-27 August 2015 studies were held in 100 facilities and 135 people were surveyed in Agsu, Shamakhi, Ismayilli regions within a project “Tourism perspectives of archaeological monuments and support to disabled rehabilitation” funded by Council on State Support to NGOs under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan by MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage. Non-awareness of this new kind of tourism in Azerbaijan showed that there is need for enlightenment in this field. All of these points will be dealt with in the third stage of the project, in the mentioned cities including the inclusive tourism seminars in Basgal and Dyalli villages of Ismayilly.
The seminar-trainings will be held by the project manager, chairman of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage, PhD Fariz Khalilli, expert ecologist Gulshen Huseynova, PhD on architecture Agasalim Azizov, ecologist-researcher Elmira Abasova, chairperson of GÜLSAM Public Union in Support to Disabled Rehabilitation, Gulnara Salimova, Arabaçı TV director Ilham Maharramov, chief of MIRAS Cultural Heritage and Youth Department, Aida Malikova, members of MIRAS Garay Mammadov and Nurana Aliyeva. The discussions will be held around the topics chosen on the survey results and the problems will be brought into the relevant bodies. In the meantime, pilot project of inclusive tourism infrastructure in Azerbaijan and inclusive tourism project of Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex reflecting corresponding recommendations and meeting world standards will be presented.
During the visit the concert of MIRAS Folklore Group in Shamakhi Psychoneurology Hospital, tea break with veterans in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex, “One day of archaeologist” with children of Ismayilli Family and Children Centre will be arranged.
The project will be finished publication of recommendation book “Tourism Perspectives of Archaeological Monuments and Support to Disabled Rehabilitation” and arrangement of tour routes.
