II International YOCOCU School in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex

On 19th October, 2015 II International YOCOCU School for students and young professionals on Conservation, Restoration and Management of Archaeological Sites was launched by MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage and International YOCOCU Association in Medieval Agsu Town Archaeological Tourism Complex. The course participants are students, Masters and teachers of University of Culture and Art in the first group on 19-22 October.
The students were firstly in Medieval Shikhmezid Monument and early medieval Mehravan town which the Expedition studied in 2013-2015. They watched on-site the hardening of the monuments’ protection and weathering under impact of natural factors after the archaeological researches.
The trainings were held by the teachers Prof.Dr. Gafar Jabiyev (chief of Agsu Archaeological Expedition), Dr. Silvestro Antonio RUFFOLO (Restoration Laboratory of Calabria University, Italy), Dr. Uğur GENÇ (Central Restoration and Conservation Laboratory, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkey), Dr. Fariz Khalilli (Chairman of MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage) and Ughur Giyasi (restorer-architect of MIRAS Social Organization). Within the course exchange of views and practice is held on the topics of restoration and conservation principles, restoration laboratory, stone materials, chemical analyses and archaeometry, new nano-technological methods in mud brick conservation.
The students of Azerbaijan University of Culture and Art on faculties of art critic, tourism, hotel, museum studies, archives and monuments defense, art, design, cultural studies draw upon their collective expertise from various specializations to help them arrive at more effective conservation solutions via theoretical and practical ways. Group fieldwork exercises at a worksite provide participants with the opportunity to address actual work scenarios where multidisciplinary solutions and collaboration are required and is focused on Azerbaijan students and young professionals. In content and structure, the course has been developed to address the following topics and skills as they pertain to interdisciplinary approaches to the conservation and valorisation of Agsu site.
The course participants will be presented international certificates in the end.
